“Mont St Michel, Avranches”

I painted this scene in a public garden in Avranches, Normandy. In the distance, across the bay, is the distinctive shape of Mont St. Michel. I loved the pink quality of the light and the snaking river. What a wonderful day it was that I painted this! Having just arrived in town, luck was with me in having been able to find a room in only minutes, just outside the garden entrance, otherwise I'd not have had time to do the painting before sundown. The room was beyond my budget, but most were, and searching for another would have meant missing the chance to do the painting. What we do for Art!
